Social responsibility

Dioxins, a by-product of many industrial processes, are almost exclusively retained in pipe work from where they are carefully removed and destroyed in special high temperature incinerators.

The need to disposal of old PVC-U frames is becoming less common as initiatives to increase recycling take effect. If PVC does end up in landfill sites it remains inert. It does not contribute to methane and other gases, to leacheates or become a toxic substance. PVC can be incinerated safely in modern incinerators.

The windows industry is committed to working with RecoVinyl to recycle post consumer PVC-U from windows. The UK recycled nearly 43,000 tonnes (42,730t) of post-consumer PVC in 2008.

Waste PVC-U from the manufacturing process is re-included in to products.
