PVC-U can be recycled over and over again – up to 10 times. PVC-U from old windows can now be made into new windows as well as other items.
Boosting recycling is a top priority in the windows industry through the Vinyl 2010 and RecoVinyl initiatives.
In a report by Vinyl 2010 the UK contributed more than 21% to the European total of nearly 200,000 tonnes (194,950t) by recycling nearly 43,000 tonnes (42,730t) of post-consumer PVC in 2008.
PVC windows with a total of up to 98% of recycled content have been made and installed succesfully, closing the loop in the PVC life cycle.
